Introduction
Online dictionaries are one of the best practices for using internet to reach useful information. For Turkish - English translation, there are only a few dictionaries which are fast, reliable, and easy to use. My personal choice between them is Tureng.com, and I always asked why they don't have an Android application. Then one day, I was offered for the development of that Tureng Android application. That was so cool because I got a job that I want to implement and after it is finished I was sure that it will be my only dictionary application to use for my daily life.
On 17.08.2011 I released the Tureng Android application for Tureng Dictionaries. In this first version, app only has the features that make Tureng, best online dictionary of Turkey.
The Functions of Tureng
For now:- Users can search any Turkish or English words and terms.
- They can listen the pronunciation of the English words in three accents (British, American and Australian)
- They will be assisted by the Auto complete while typing.
- They have option to disable the auto complete feature for low data cost.
- They can list and clear their search history.
Even these features are enough to make that app very useful and handy, in the next versions we will add some nice features.
For Tureng App, I have pay attention on User Experience. User Experience is very important for all applications but for mobile form
applications it is more than a requirement. Small mobile screens, soft keyboards make mobile devices hard to use, but with small UX tricks,
it is possible to make a dictionary easy to use. For a dictionary users should get more info by writing less, navigate easily,
get result ordered and arranged etc. I tried to consider all needs of users while designing the application.

Tureng Application is free. You get it from Android Market.

Introduction
As a Geek, of course, my first post has to be "Hello World". As known, it is a tradition to print "Hello World" for new programming languages. For me, it is a way to pay homage to the elder, wise computer masters such as Dijkstra or Turing... I did not know where it comes from, and I looked at Wikipedia. It says:
The example program from the book 'C Programming Language' prints "hello, world" (without capital letters or exclamation mark), and was inherited from a 1974 Bell Laboratories internal memorandum by Brian Kernighan, Programming in C
What Will Be in The Site?
After this Hello World session, I can introduce you my new personal website + blog. Actually, to call this website as a blog can be wrong. I am not a strict blog writer. For that reason, I entitle this section as NewsFeed.
I will share some updates about the projects that I run and the good news about my career and professional life - hope to get lots of :) - I also post some technical articles about the technologies that I am interested in.
I know not everyone is interested in technological writings, if you are one of them you can use the category filtering.
The technological topics, generally, will be related to the Microsoft Technologies, such as ASP.NET, C#, Windows Phone, Visual Studio etc. and also Android Development using Java. It is possible to categorize these posts under two sub-categories: How-Tos and Updates about a Technology.
Sometimes, to find a solution to your development problem as a How-To approach saves life. For that reason, while I am learning a new stuff with a recent technology, I will try to post the how-tos and create a kind of bible of the technological solutions.
Hope you like the posts,
Arda
